workrave under awesome

I am really not sure if it's a limitation from the window manager (http://awesome.naquadah.org/), but workrave icon's are very uneasy when using it inside awesome (as can be seen on the attached file).

Programs that I use and that are able to display a properly resized and small icon are Opera, Pidgin, Liferea, Skype and Gimmix (thus that is why I think that the problem is on workrave side).

I can try to give more info or make tests, if needed.

This is an annoying issue I am also a victim of. It also makes workrave flash for me, which makes my work more difficult, which seems to be a bit against the spirit of workrave...

Maybe the problem is with awesome not dealing well with oversized (ie. not square) applets.

A workaround I have found was to disable the display of all timers in the applet. then that way I see the little sheep (twice!!) instead. But at least it stopped flashing...

I now believe the problem is due to workrave not sending the right WM_SIZE_HINTS to the window manager. There is also *two* windows in the tray, for some reason...

See https://awesome.naquadah.org/bugs/index.php?do=details&task_id=843#comment2577 for the debugging output.

Why is there two windows in the tray? Is it normal that the hints for size are smaller than the actual window?

Ah and note that I can also reproduce this on 3.4.9.
