This be very nice if there be option in "Timers" category - "Reset Break Timer when computer locked". I.e. When I checked this option, lock my workstation and go somewhere 'Reset Break' timer will reset.

I am unsure what would be the purpose of this option. If you lock your screen and go away long enough, you'll take a "natural break", and the timer resets itself. If you are not gone long enough, then you do not (normally) want to skip your break. And if you do want to skip your break, there's always the skip/postpone buttons. If I understand your request correctly, you want to be able to skip your break, without explicitly telling workrave (by clicking skip/postpone). You did get me thinking. As an alternative, I propose that when the screen is locked, we trigger a "self inflicted" restbreak, such that when you unlock the screen, you can immediately see how much longer you have to break until your restbreak is complete.

Thanks, I checked this functionality. When I leave PC for time more than specified in 'Rest Duration' this timer resets. This is good but not easily discoverable. I think "Self inflicted rest-break" will be excessive. It would be better if, optionally, the time until the next break can be increased in proportion to the time of inactivity. For example: Time between breaks is 45 min Break duration - 5 min. I lock workstation and leave for 3 minutes. When I come back 27 minutes will be added to rest-break timer. "Added time" = "Self inflicted pause" / "Break duration" * "Time between breaks" 3 / 5 * 45 = 27

I would not be much in favor of such a thing. It would make workrave very unpredictable. While using the computer, I am not "active" all the time. I often stop to think, talk to colleagues, and take micro-breaks. I guess most people do. If all of this would increase the time until my next rest break, I'm not sure you'd ever get one :-) Also, I'm not quite sure how we would reflect this in the UI. Currently we have blue progress bars to indicate how much "working time" you've used, and green progress bars to indicate how long you've rested. When the green progress bar reaches 100%, the blue one is reset. What you are proposing, is that while the green bar increases, the blue one should slowly decrease. That would be hard to explain to a user.

I agree that this functionality is not mandatory. I do user support and work on my PC as well as you. Timer is triggered virtually no matter how long I worked. May be reduction of period between Breaks and duration of it will help me. Course such a functionality would be optional and operate only at full lock the PC. Thanks for you support.

In reply to comment #1 I like the self-inflicted restbreak when I unlock the computer. It's just that the border is flashing orange because, apparently, typing my password is detected as activity. Also, it is showing exercises, which is kind of pointless. I'm wondering if it is possible to have a dedicated window in this case, like "Time remaining in your natural restbreak" or something like that. It would explain better to the user what is going on (it is kind of strange seeing a restbreak window when unlocking your computer, especially when it wasn't there when you locked it). Additionally, you could disable the flashing orange for this window without interfering with other functionality :-)

I just returned to my computer, after being gone for a long time. When I unlocked, the status applet showed that I had completed a natural restbreak (bar entirely green). The rest-break window was present, counting down from my break duration (incorrect, natural break was completed, not just starting), and disappeared shortly afterwards without user interaction (why?) I'm kind of confused now ;-)

I decided to undertake this problem by reducing the length of breaks and the working periods. Unfortunately this sometimes distracts from the work. :)
