Description

This is an upstream bug from openSUSE. Workrave is unusable in KDE4.1.1. Please see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=430247 for more details.

I think Workrave supports only KDE3. (From https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=430247) 2. Displayed icons in system tray are incorrect. Workrave abuses the system tray by creating an icon that is much wider than 24 pixels. KDE3 kicker could not handle this properly. That's why I created a native KDE applet. 3. No sound played when it's break time. Workrave 1.9.0 supports gstreamer for sounds. This could be used instead of (KDE3) sound events. I tried adding KDE4 support a couple of days ago; I gave up when I noticed that KDE4 no longer supports autoconf (It seems KDE now uses cmake). Adding cmake support to Workrave or creating autoconf m4 files for KDE4 takes more time than I want to spend on the KDE port right now... I may try again in a couple of weeks. KDE4 patches are of course more than welcome :-)

The best fit for workrave in KDE4 would be as a plasmoid. In case anyone is interested, see: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Plasma/GettingStarted

I use Workrave under KDE 4.13. However, there are at least 2 issues apparently specific to KDE: No sounds are played. The systrem tray displays 2 icons.

Sorry, the latter issue is not really the system tray displaying 2 icons, but the applet being broken in KDE (this is reported in Debian's #769859).

The applet can be disabled in the UI preferences. I have one more issue with Workrave 1.10.4 which appears specific to KDE (Windows 8 is OK) - no exercices are suggested during breaks.

On my KDE 4.14.3 there are also two icons in the tray, but furthermore, the screen blocking during breaks is completely broken. At some moment during the break everything (including the Workrave's indicator of how much time is left) freezes and the only way to restore functionality is ctrl+alt+f1 && pkill workrave.

There is a new qt5 app, did you test that already? (I’m currently readying my build environment to give it a try)

(In reply to Arne Babenhauserheide from comment #8) > There is a new qt5 app, did you test that already? (I’m currently readying > my build environment to give it a try) I will as soon as someone puts together an ebuild for Gentoo. Thanks for the heads up.

Workrave is mostly usable for me again. See https://issues.workrave.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1155
