I have no Workrave sound when using workrave in Linux. I do not understand why. Sound is working on this box. The sounds are installed on the system. I compiled both GNOME and KDE support into Workrave 1.8.2 but no sound in either of the desktop environments. I did not compile ARTS support, since this is FC-4 and ARTS is really only useful now if you want to run network sound. The box has ALSA with OSS legacy support.

I don't know if I'm missing something really simple because there's virtually no documentation for this unbelievably fantastic program.

Here are all the files installed (except for the graphic files and the multiple workrave.mo files).

/etc/sound/events/workrave.soundlist
/usr/bin/workrave
/usr/lib/bonobo/servers/Workrave-Applet.server

Try compiling a gnome-only version and check if the sounds are playable in gnome-sound-properties

https://launchpad.net/products/workrave/+bug/33825 mentions the same bug.

Indeed. On Ubuntu, I don't get any sounds either. Debian/unstable seems to be fine. Anyways, fixed now.

It seems that gossip suffered from the same bug (see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347670). I'm using the same fix.

Did you plan to do a release anytime soon, or should I take the patch from CVS?

I've no plan to do a release soon. There are still a few issues I want to resolve.
I attached a patch for 1.8.3. But you can also take Workrave from CVS.
