Hi! It would be nice to include in the Workrave's statistics the time of the beginning of the work (eg. 8:04:33) and the time, when the last activity was detected in that workday (eg. 17:24:44). In this way, it could give an idea, how mutch time has the user spent at the office. Additionally it could show the idle time between the two intervals. By the way, I find unconfortable the idle time policy, and I suggest to add a button to Workrave's menu, with the meaning "I am going to lunch, and please consider the time until the next activity as idle". This is useful, because the idle times can be also working hours (a meeting for example).

Hi, Your first paragraph is pretty much the same as requested in bug 444. As for the second paragraph, I don't think I understand correctly. What exactly do you find uncomfortable about the idle time policy? If I understand correctly, If you decide to go to lunch now, workrave will notice after about 5 seconds, and consider you idle henceforth. So by adding the button you propose, you'd be idle five seconds longer. I'm not sure what the benefit would be.

I received the following feedback via e-mail > Yes, I have seen the bug 444, and I agree, that the first part > of my report is exactly the same. > > About the second part: I would like to measure with Workrave the > time spent in the office. If I begin to review a document or I > go to the secretariat, Workrave considers me idle, and > from its statistics I don't know, how much time was I in > (it says that I was _active_ eg. 6.5 hours). > > Hence, I configured, that "don't suspend the daily limit timer > on inactivity". But in this way, it counts also my lunch time > in the working hours. If I understand correctly, you've set the timers to "ignore inactivity", and yet you want to be inactive during your lunch. This issue definately hasn't been raised before. I'm not sure how to approach it, since it is not very close to the original intent of workrave. There is a suggestion in bug 447, to make the time you have to be idle before workrave considers you inactive configurable. This used to be so in the past, but apparently isn't anymore. If this value could be set to a sufficiently high value (i.e. long enough to review a document or visit the secretariat), your problem might be solved. Any other thoughts? Anyone?

how about using the 'restbreak now' feature when going to lunch? Workrave will then start a restbreak and assume you are idle (even if the break ignores inactivity. If it doesn't work that way, it's a bug...) (also fixed bug #444)
