I cannot get compile workrave on Mandrake (Cooker). It complains about the absence of glibc... But I know Cooker is on glibc for a long time. How can I get it to find the libs. pkg-config is of no help here as the rpms of glibx do not have the .pc file for glibc-2.0 and higher.

I tried to compile it on RedHat 7.3 too. The pkg-config tool does not exist for RedHat 7.3 at all... Could we work out another way to find out if glibc is installed? ( please???)

Workrave checks for glib-2.0 not glibC-2.0. I assume that the -devel packages of glib contain the .pc file. I just checked, RedHat does have a package called pkgconfig (version 0.12). It's not the most recent version, but I expect it to work anyway

Could you please provice me the required .pc files ( starting with the glibc-2.0 one) RedHat nor Mandrake have one. And I can't seem to be able to find one on the internet either. I'd love to get the product going as I feal my hands acking of the tention that could cause RSI, but when I can only compile the program under Debian.. it's just not an option to me at the moment... sorry

Please re-read my comment above. There is no "C" in glib. Redhat does have this pc file. I just checked. I's in glib2-devel-2.0.1-2.i386.rpm (/usr/lib/pkgconfig/glib-2.0.pc) To compile workrave you'll need at least glib 2.0, gtk+ 2.0 and gtkmm 2.0. As far as I know, there is no gtkmm 2.0 package for Redhat 7. So you may have to compile it yourself. I don't think this bug describes a problem in workrave (except that it needs a README containing all dependencies, badly). So I'm closing this bug. Feel free to email me directly if you still have problems compiling workrave.
