As a follow up to bug 1211, the remaining KDE issue is that the icon cannot be clicked on, as reported on the Debian tracker (http://bugs.debian.org/829450):

"Clicking on the Workrave icon from the KDE tray has no effect. Middle and right
click have no effect; left click dismisses the tray popup, if workrave is
configured to be hidden in the popup.

Note: with the last KDE updates in May/June all other tray problems went away.
The following programs work fine with the tray: Pidgin, Skype, Wicd, Sync
running in WINE."

Thank you François, I confirm.

I am experiencing this on a fresh install of Debian 9 with its Workrave 1.10.16. In my case Workrave shows 2 tray icons, one normal and 1 minuscule (aligned top left). Both icons are unusable.

However, Workrave itself is not unusable. It still reminds about breaks, per defaults. This bug still causes pollution in the system tray in addition to seriously reducing value for KDE users, so I recommend increasing Importance.
