gnome-shell applet or its extension does not support current gnome-shell version. today, we are talking about gnome 3.20... but to be more precisely, since time, Workrave applet is always one step behind Gnome. e.g gnome 3.18 --> workrave supports gnome 3.16 (and below), and so on...
