This is a feature request.

If we can have a setting for semi transparent status window, then what is beneath can be seen. User should be able to define % of transparency.

Even better would be to enable user to click through the window. Only the bar to be non clickable which can be used to move and close the status window. Not sure if GTK/QT support this. Not sure if this is possible, but definitely good to have. If this features are there, I guess no one would mind the status window, as it is almost completely non blocking!

Sound like a valid request. 

I also don't know if gtk3/qt supports window transparency. On Windows, Workrave still uses gtk2. I doubt gtk2 support transparency.
