Description

Just installed Workrave 1.9.4 on Windows 7 PC. The timer window shows up, but I never get any sort of prompt or prelude or the break window for the micro-break or the rest break. Is this a bug or is there a setting I am missing? Please advise.

The same happens for me, Win 7 Enterprise 64bit, Workrave 1.9.4. Normal mode enabled, reading mode disabled. On occasions, when having program window open, the micro-break and rest-break were displayed. I tried to recreate the problem to see if this works with program window open, but haven't succeed - sometimes it displays, other times it doesn't. For sure it never displays when minimized to tray. Unfortunately this kind of a bug means the program is useless until fixed :( Please help. Regards.

Could you please check if the following build solves the problem? http://snapshots.workrave.org/20111204/workrave-win32-v1_9_904-8-ge42cf2e5ac-dirty-20111204-installer.exe Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, after installing the new build and rebooting, the problem persists. I have noticed that the root cause are counter interruptions, and that they strictly depend on my activity (using the mouse or keyboard). Please find below some investigation I've done and disregard my previous suspicion about the impact of open/minimized state. The sequence is: 1. micro-break and rest-break are counting down fine 2. after 5 seconds of inactivity both counters stop 3. green progress bar is displayed on frozen micro-break counter, advancing one-second steps for a period defined for "Break duration". If I start some activity before it reaches the end, both counter get resumed, otherwise... 4. ...micro-break counter gets reset to initial value and frozen 5. when I start some activity, green progress bar disappears, both timers are resumed (rest-break from the value, where it stopped in point 2, it doesn't get corrected to make up the time passed during points 3 and 4. Hope this helps to investigate the problem further.

This behavior you describe in intended. When you use keyboard/mouse, Workrave counts 'active time' (blue bar, text in the timer shows the time left till next break). When you stop using keyboard/mouse, workrave freezes the 'active time' and starts counting 'idle time'. As soon as you idle time equals the break duration, Workrave assumes that you took a 'natural break' and resets the 'active time'. You can enable the 'reading mode' is you don't want workrave to stop counting 'active time' (e.g. while you are reading)
